About the Role

NBBJ New York is looking for an Intermediate Architectural Designer to join our collaborative, design-oriented studio. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting design leadership on projects, contributing to quality standards, and advancing the firm's design reputation through project work, team mentorship, and client interactions.

What You'll Do

  • Define and exemplify quality standards through design reviews, mentoring, and open discussions.
  • Encourage radical thinking and creativity at all levels to lead the studio toward impactful design.
  • Prepare high-quality design materials, including presentation drawings, models, and construction documentation from concept to construction.
  • Ensure design quality by reviewing projects and engaging teams in firm-wide peer reviews.
  • Craft and present compelling design stories to clients and peers.
  • Connect with design colleagues firm-wide to enhance collaboration and design quality.
  • Stay informed about emerging design applications, tools, and technologies, championing innovative methodologies.
  • Collaborate with project leadership to organize project work and team structures.
  • Work with multiple disciplines to ensure rigorous, integrated project delivery.

What We're Looking For

  • 5-10 years of professional architectural experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture; B Arch or M Arch desired.
  • Deep understanding of high-performance building concepts; LEED Accreditation or commitment to achieve it within 18 months of hire.
  • Strong conceptual and schematic design skills.
  • Strong verbal and graphic communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Revit with 3D modeling skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Ability to participate in multiple projects and manage deadlines effectively.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Healthcare, Corporate, or Commercial project types.
  • Architectural licensure.
  • Experience with Sketchup and/or Rhino.
  • Interest and experience in Grasshopper workflows.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary range: $82,000 - $92,000.
