As an AI/ML/NLP Engineer Intern, you'll take part in a hands-on program centered on creating intelligent systems using state-of-the-art machine learning and natural language processing methods. You'll partner with seasoned engineers and subject matter experts to identify key problems and develop data-driven solutions that have measurable impact.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with technical leads and product teams to uncover customer pain points and shape model-driven responses.
- Design, implement, and validate machine learning approaches, including large language models, through rigorous experimentation.
- Evaluate current platforms for inefficiencies and recommend algorithmic or architectural optimizations.
- Engage with production workflows, including automated testing and deployment systems like GitHub Actions and infrastructure managed through Terraform.
- Communicate technical results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences at the close of your project cycle.
What We're Looking For
- Enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
- Proven research background in areas such as deep learning, generative AI, or statistical modeling, demonstrated through publications or substantial projects.
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language—Python, Java, C#, or GoLang—with a preference for Python in ML contexts.
- Strong foundation in core machine learning frameworks and methodologies, including experience with deep neural networks and transformer-based architectures.
- Working knowledge of statistical theory, including probability distributions, Bayesian reasoning, and estimation techniques.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and articulate complex technical concepts in accessible ways.
- A track record of creative problem solving and self-directed learning.
Preferred Background
- Exposure to cloud environments, particularly AWS.
- Understanding of software development lifecycles, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
- Basic familiarity with containerized systems and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Interest or prior experience in financial technology domains.
