As an AI Engineer, you will play a central role in creating intelligent systems that classify and interpret digital communications within highly regulated environments. You'll develop and refine transformer-based models, applying fine-tuning, embedding retrieval, and prompt engineering to improve detection accuracy and operational efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Design, train, and deploy transformer models for text classification, using pre-trained architectures and domain-specific adaptation techniques.
- Assess base and generalized models for low-occurrence event detection, identifying paths to improve precision and recall.
- Implement and test prompt-based classification strategies and vector retrieval methods to enhance system responsiveness and relevance.
- Run controlled experiments to evaluate model performance, balancing accuracy, latency, and computational cost.
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to turn business needs into functional machine learning implementations.
- Support technology evaluation decisions by prototyping and benchmarking third-party and open-source AI tools.
- Ensure deployed models meet scalability, security, and compliance standards for enterprise use.
- Keep pace with emerging developments in large language models, transformers, and NLP to guide technical direction.
What We're Looking For
- At least five years of software engineering experience, including two years focused on NLP or transformer-based machine learning.
- Proven work with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face Transformers.
- Direct experience applying transformer models to text classification challenges.
- Knowledge of prompt engineering, embedding models, and vector similarity methods.
- Understanding of inference cost drivers and optimization strategies in production AI systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization, Java, and Linux-based development.
- Experience contributing to model evaluation and improvement through structured experimentation.
- Background in Agile or Scrum environments and strong collaborative problem-solving skills.
- Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
