About the Role

The specialist will coordinate advocacy efforts, develop policy positions, and lead communication strategies to support humanitarian objectives and promote organizational impact.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate advocacy campaigns targeting governments and international bodies
  • Develop policy briefs and position papers on humanitarian issues
  • Engage with stakeholders to influence policy decisions affecting displaced populations
  • Support the creation and dissemination of strategic communication materials
  • Monitor political and humanitarian developments to inform advocacy strategy
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with policymakers and partners
  • Represent the organization in technical working groups and forums
  • Translate program data into compelling advocacy messages
  • Maintain relationships with key government and non-government actors
  • Ensure advocacy activities align with program objectives and compliance standards
  • Track and report on advocacy outcomes and policy changes
  • Support media engagement and messaging during emergencies
  • Draft speeches, talking points, and briefing documents for senior leaders
  • Coordinate with field teams to gather evidence for policy influence
  • Promote gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches in all advocacy products
  • Contribute to donor reports related to policy and communication outcomes
  • Ensure timely delivery of advocacy deliverables within project timelines
  • Support capacity building of staff on advocacy and communication tools
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal and policy frameworks
  • Use data to identify advocacy opportunities and measure impact
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to align messaging
  • Ensure all materials comply with organizational branding and tone guidelines
  • Respond to information requests from external stakeholders
  • Support the development of annual advocacy work plans
  • Identify risks associated with policy engagement and recommend mitigation

Compensation

Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience

Work Arrangement

Full-time, temporary position with potential for extension based on funding and performance

Team

Position is part of the Advocacy and Communications team operating within a humanitarian response context
