Responsibilities
- Collects comprehensive and accurate personal and financial details from patients, medical offices, and internal departments.
- Secures necessary legal consents and signed insurance documentation.
- Conducts pre-certification processes and manages credit referrals or deposit collection as needed.
- Enters patient data into computer systems and thoroughly documents any incomplete admissions according to established procedures.
- Obtains and records pre-certification, referral, or authorization numbers in patient files.
- Communicates with patients, families, doctors, or supervisors about insurance limitations and financial obligations, logging all interactions in the system.
- Verifies physician orders for completeness and confirms all required fields are present.
- Completes Medicare compliance documentation and secures an Advance Beneficiary Notice when appropriate.
- Maintains understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to insurance policies.
- Operates multiple software platforms for data entry and recordkeeping.
- Delivers consistent, positive customer service and escalates unresolved concerns to management.
- Responds to incoming phone calls in a professional manner.
- Follows standardized communication scripts to assist callers effectively.
- Completes all assigned tasks during a shift accurately and on schedule.
- Adheres to all safety protocols, policies, and procedures as defined by the organization.
