SPAN is hiring an Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting for goods produced through contract manufacturers and electronic manufacturing services partners, ensuring precise standard cost modeling, purchase price variance evaluation, and proper overhead allocation
  • Administer complete consignment accounting cycles for inventory stored at manufacturing and distribution partner sites, managing transfers, consumption reporting, and reconciliation with external records
  • Ensure accurate valuation of inventory and related reserves, including provisions for slow-moving, excess, and obsolete stock, in compliance with GAAP standards
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations teams to verify inventory transactions, physical count accuracy, and integrity of cost data in the ERP platform
  • Lead or assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, including creation and validation of journal entries
  • Develop and review balance sheet reconciliations for critical accounts, conduct variance analysis, and provide clear, documented explanations to finance leadership
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and associated schedules under the direction of senior accounting leadership
  • Maintain comprehensive, audit-ready records and serve as a primary liaison to external auditors, preparing schedules and responding to requests
  • Prepare and validate entries for revenue recognition following ASC 606 guidelines, utilizing a semi-automated system
  • Prepare and review accounting entries related to leases under ASC 842, maintaining schedules for right-of-use assets and lease liabilities
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and drive automation, reducing the time required to close financial periods
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to direct reports, supporting their development in accounting practices
  • Promote a team environment rooted in accountability, inquiry, and ongoing process enhancement
  • Develop collaborative relationships with Supply Chain, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Legal teams to align accounting treatments with operational and contractual realities
  • Serve as a strategic finance partner by interpreting accounting principles into actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders
  • Support special projects, system integrations, and process optimization initiatives within the accounting function
