Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance and production staff under direct oversight.
- Ensure plant operations meet core standards in production, quality, safety, cost control, cleanliness, and team dynamics.
- Support production by stepping in as needed, covering roles during breaks, lunches, or absences.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to verify safe and efficient operations.
- Ensure receiving and shipping timelines are consistently achieved.
- Provide clear direction to team members on tasks and proper procedures.
- Monitor quality benchmarks for both incoming materials and final products.
- Verify that raw material processing follows acceptable production flow.
- Frequently assess department operations during the shift to ensure on-time completion and adjust as necessary.
- Manage and limit overtime expenses.
- Model professional and productive behavior for the team.
- Engage with employees about their tasks and listen to any concerns, work-related or personal.
- Promote positive morale and uphold team discipline.
- Foster respectful, open communication with all team members.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with employees.
- Diagnose and resolve plant issues, using alternate methods or involving technical support when needed.
- Support maintenance teams during equipment repairs.
- Keep employee evaluations current and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Carry out safety, lockout, and powered industrial truck (PIT) audits, and complete required reports and checklists.
- Manage employee training and cross-training programs.
- Train staff to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
- Enforce compliance with HACCP, APPI, and Salmonella control protocols.
- Ensure adherence to all safety rules and company policies.
- Review prior shift notes, identify anomalies, and monitor critical items closely.
- Verify and track loading schedules.
