M&T Bank is seeking candidates for its 2026 Community Branch Internship Program, a structured 10-week summer experience designed to build foundational skills in Retail Banking. Interns will immerse in the M&T culture through workshops, networking, and guest speakers, gaining direct exposure to customer relationship management and banking fundamentals.
What You'll Do
- Play a key role in Customer Relationship Management through proactive outreach and servicing.
- Identify financial needs of customers and present appropriate options.
- Onboard new customers and establish trust with existing customers.
- Service customers to gain a fundamental understanding of Retail Banking.
- Complete duties of an entry-level professional nature specific to your assigned area.
- Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls.
- Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Design, implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Work visa sponsorship is not offered for this role.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in pertinent software, particularly spreadsheet software.
- Proven analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented approach.
